Recap Privacy Policy

Recap (“Recap,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Happii Apps LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else processes it, and the choices you have. It covers the Recap iOS app and this website.

Recap records audio and turns it into text. That means we necessarily handle the contents of your recordings. This policy is specific about how.

What we collect

Your recordings. Audio you record or import is uploaded to our storage so it can be transcribed and summarized. It stays associated with your account.

Transcripts and summaries. The text produced from your audio, including the title, summary and any meeting insights.

Account information. An account identifier and the email address associated with your sign-in. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple’s relay address.

Usage and diagnostics. Which features are used, and crash or error reports when something goes wrong. This is used to fix problems and decide what to build.

Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription. Payment card details are handled by Apple and never reach us.

How your recordings are processed

When you finish a recording, the audio is uploaded to our storage and submitted to a speech-to-text provider for transcription. The resulting transcript is then sent to an AI provider to generate a title and summary. The finished note is stored against your account so you can read it in the app.

We do not use your recordings, transcripts or summaries to train AI models, and we do not sell them.

Who else processes your data

We use the following third parties. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

How long we keep it

Recordings, transcripts and summaries are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting a note in the app removes it and its audio. Deleting your account removes your notes and audio.

Diagnostic and analytics data is retained on a rolling basis by the providers listed above under their own retention schedules.

Your choices

Delete a note. Any note can be deleted from within the app, which removes its audio and text.

Delete your account. Open the Recap app and go to Settings → Delete account. This permanently erases your account, every note, every transcript and every recording. It happens immediately and cannot be undone. If you would rather we did it for you, email support@happiiapps.com.

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple, and you must cancel yours in the App Store — otherwise billing continues after the account is gone.

Access or export. Ask us and we will provide a copy of the data we hold about you.

Tracking. iOS asks for your permission before any tracking identifier is used. Declining does not limit the app.

Children

Recap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls that limit each account to its own content. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat recordings as sensitive because they are.

Recording responsibly

Laws about recording conversations differ by country and by state. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required where you are before recording other people.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
